Ragnarok season 2 on Netflix - release date and more
Ragnarok season 2 on Netflix: Release date, cast, plot and everything you need to know
While Marvel fans wait for Thor: Love and Thunder, Netflix has got us covered with its own unique take on Norse mythology in Ragnarok.
This Norwegian Netflix original also revolves around the God of Thunder, but here the impressive physique of Chris Hemsworth has been swapped out for a teenage boy who doesn't even realise he's a deity.
Sold as Thor meets Skam, Ragnarok performed well for Netflix – it was the platform's sixth most-watched series in the US (via Deadline) in 2020, so it's hardly surprising that the team behind it have been given the thumbs up to continue.
The media giant is also continuing to invest in Scandinavia by opening a new office in Stockholm.
"Now is the time for us to get even closer to our members, the creators, filmmakers, partners and cultural communities throughout the Nordics – which is why I'm excited to announce that in the second half of this year we're opening a Nordic office in Stockholm that will function as a hub for the region," wrote Lina Brouneus, Director of Acquisitions and Co-Productions, EMEA, in a blog (via Deadline).
"To further support the region and to reflect the diversity of talent we work with, we will also have a small team of Netflix employees based in a satellite office in Copenhagen."
She added: "By the end of this year nearly seventy original titles coming from the Nordics will be available on Netflix – films and series that have been enjoyed by the four million-plus members across the region as well as our members right around the world. In fact, almost two thirds of our members globally have chosen to watch a Nordic original film or series – made in the Nordics, watched by the world."
But enough of that. What can we expect from Ragnarok season two? Here's everything you need to know.
Ragnarok season 2 release date: When will it air?
Season two will arrive on Netflix on Thursday, May 27.
Ragnarok season 2 cast: Who's in it?
Ragnarok is coming back for more episodes, so expect the following to all feature:
• David Stakston as Magne
• Jonas Strand Gravli as Laurits
• Herman Tømmeraas as Fjor
• Theresa Frostad Eggesbø as Saxa
• Emma Bones as Gry
• Henriette Steenstrup as Turid
• Synnøve Macody Lund as Ran
Following season one's finale, the fate of Vidar (Gísli Örn Garðarsson) is shrouded in mystery.

Whether the fearsome Giant has survived or not, he still fared better than Isolde (Ylva Bjørkaas Thedin). Magne's activist friend was murdered early on in a blatant example of "bury your gays", the unfortunate trope where LGBTQ+ characters are killed off to further the story of their straight counterparts.
Ragnarok season 2 plot: What will happen?
At the end of season one, Thor Magne and Vidar finally clashed in an epic battle. Just when it looked like the Giant would win, Magne summoned lightning, which ended the fight and perhaps the life of Vidar, too.
Related Story
The second season will likely pit Magne against the remaining giants while developing his celestial heritage further.
Hints that his brother Laurits is actually Loki could also be explored, potentially setting him up as the show's new villain at some point.
